Giovanni Scala

In-folio (350x235 mm). Foliation [33], 2 ff. some folded. With 1 titlepage within an elaborate architectural frame bearing the date 1627 at the bottom, 1 card of Dedication and 60 beautiful figures of fortifications, of which 4 full page and 2 folded and 56 engraved half-page in 28 papers. Work entirely engraved in copper. Contemporary binding in full parchment some loss at the spine. Second edition, the beautiful engravings depict fortifications with their respective scheme, fortified cities and cannons and are taken from drawings by Scala. A manuscript note of possession of the Senator of the Kingdom Antonio Carradori de ’Flamini (1814-1882) on title page. Titlepage burnished and with two erased possession notes.
