ARCHAEOLOGY

The Archaeology Department within Itineris Casa d’Aste is active in Milan since 2018.
From June 2018, in fact, Itineris offered its Italian and international public two annual auctions: one in June and one in December – this effort was consistent even the first wave of COVID-19.

Itineris – throughout these years – offered important selections of great archeological artifacts with a guaranteed and controlled provenance verified by the Soprintendenze Archeologiche and from the Nucleo Tutela del Corpo dei Carabinieri – two crucial institutions within the legal framework of the Italian Ministry of Cultual Goods.

The Italian Legislation is globally the most careful regarding provenance of cultural goods and archeological artifacts. Itineris works meticulously to respect these standards and for this reason the final buyer can be guaranteed with a piece that is not only historically and artistically valuable but that also carries with him a certificate of provenance that will protect its value overtime.

Our buyers are diverse: from the young collector, passionate about archeology to the classic collector fascinated by the origin, the history and the aesthetics behind the object.
Throughout the years, the archeologic artifact from a mere curiosity object became a luxurious collectible rapidly expanding. The reason why there was an increase on the attention towards these objects lays on average purchase price in Italy – moderately lower that the international average constituting a pleasant surprise for the buyer.

Purchasing an archaeological artifact means acquiring an object that challenged time and hardships coming across generations.

Neri Mannelli is the head of the Department since the beginning bringing his professional knowledge in the archeological field both as an archeologist and as an expert in the realm of auction houses being the first expert to lead such a department in Italy.

Itineris Casa d’Aste also offers to value cultural goods for insurance purposes or the succession of cultural goods within private property matters.
